Seriously, this is what's wrong with america today. This kind of attack toward whichever side you disagree with needs to end. I would not defend the bigoted statements Nixon made, nor would I defend Nixon himself, however, the fact that decades later you still hold such vitriol toward a man now long since deceased is equally as telling about you. But you're not just expressing your disgust for Nixon, it's clear you are also digging into this very old well for a partisan attack on both republicans and religion.
If a sitting U.S. president were to say the things Nixon did today, there would be a resounding bipartisan call for him to be thrown out of office, both republicans and christians would have been outraged if any public personality were to make those kinds of statements today. Your attempt to draw the comparison that people on the right are narrow-minded and prejudice as Nixon was in the 70's are juat as prejudicial, only in the opposite direction, as Nixon's.
These kinds of ridiculous attacks happen daily on both sides, be it you, or Rush Limbaugh, or Janeane Girafalo, or Laura Ingraham. It's all partisan hackery and if this nation is ever to move in the right direction, it will be accomplished by people in the middle who do not buy into this kind of propaganda.
