Another wish list

+2/-2 Reply

Considering that the previous wish list got crammed to the gills by ill-bred ankle-biters and stalkers, let's try this again:

For the perusal and contemplation of the rather newish Fray editor/board moderator:

1] Have the techies eliminate the Fray rating system as it too often degenerates into personality based biases rather than any true reflection of the top post's worth. It causes unnecessary -- or at least unproductive -- contention.

2] Return to Fraysters the ability to put obnoxious posters on an ignore list so that they will not even show up on one's page view. That was a good feature and the Frayverse WAS NOT enhanced by its removal.

3] See if you can find the Club Fray [again this is a job for your techies] top posts and restore those to life -- or at least make them available as read only files. There was some outstanding posting left in that format.

4] Have the techies return the Fray pages to their former state wherein they contained between thirty and forty top post listings per page. At least do so for the active pages, that is. It's annoying to see a good top post scroll rapidly down and then off the viewing page. Back when there were substantially MORE THAN 20 top posts listed per page one could top post several times per day without having whining children -- unable to distinguish between decent writers and trolls -- complaining about Page Pushing.

=====================

I assume that other posters also have interesting ideas for positive changes that our new editor might introduce to these Fray boards. But if you do not post it then he will never have the opportunity to think about these things. Let's see if this time around we can manage to keep this top post tread going without it being inundated by juvenile minded ankle-biters.

1. agree

2. don't care

3. don't care

4. agree, but for different reasons

Re: Another wish list

1.) agree.

2.) never used that feature, so don't care.

3.) I know you were a starred poster then, GW and it would be nice to see some old posts. You had some good ones.

But, I doubt those posts are still available.

4.) seems like a good idea.

Sure, I had some good

posts but I'm really thinking of the stuff produced [for Club Fray] by all the participants during the height of the Iraq War. It would be nice to re-read some of those old posts and see how well they held up over time.

Anyway, this is a wish list not a demands list and aside from stating my wishes I don't really care what the editor does with this. The information has been delivered. He can do with it what he will.

As for the increasing the pages length thing, that too would alleviate some hard feelings and alter general posting patterns -- at least do so on some of the boards.

Ankle-biters should post

Some little secrets

After a month and a half even an uber narcissist such as yourself should not be able to pretend this to be a stalking post. Lets put a few of your points into perspective.

Considering that the previous wish list got crammed to the gills by ill-bred ankle-biters and stalkers, let's try this again:

According to you anyone who disagrees with you or calls you on a very poor point is ill bred. In other words you are now telling the world you are genetically superior than the others here. You also fail to mention that you replied to each and every one of the points made by others, so apparently you felt intellectually threatened by the points being made.

Have the techies eliminate the Fray rating system as it too often degenerates into personality based biases rather than any true reflection of the top post's worth. It causes unnecessary -- or at least unproductive --contention.

The very rating system you complain about you have bragged about abusing yourself.

Return to Fraysters the ability to put obnoxious posters on an ignore list so that they will not even show up on one's page view. That was a good feature and the Frayverse WAS NOT enhanced by its removal.

If obnoxiousness was ignored, no one would ever read most of your posts. No one forces anyone to open a post. besides what fun would it be for you to flame the people you claim to want to ignore? Or is it you only want to flame people who will fall into your childish little traps and to ignore the posters who call your spades, spades.

See if you can find the Club Fray [again this is a job for your techies] top posts and restore those to life -- or at least make them available as read only files. There was some outstanding posting left in that format.

Translated: Gatewood wants to see his old posts about the war so he will not get caught out contradicting himself in case someone can link to another one of his flip flops. Besides he misses his star and would like to look at it again.

Have the techies return the Fray pages to their former state wherein they contained between thirty and forty top post listings per page.

Translation: Gatewood is too full of himself to even consider the idea that he should nest his posts like everyone else. In fact gatewood is often unable to realize the very real fact that he has often been a flaming troll himself.
