The real problem is that Dave thinks it's ok to use the word "slutty" when describing Palin. It's not; in fact it's indecent.

The joke is an unfortunate continuation of the reprehensible behavior directed at her last year. Anyone remember the stories speculating that Sarah was not Trig's real mother?

Her trademark move was/is the come hither wink. If she wants to be treated seriously, she has to act like a serious politician rather than the winking, diva-like, beauty queen that she holds herself out to be. She's trying to have it both ways.

tony, Obviously you heard the joke second, third or fourth hand and it got worse with each telling; Letterman NEVER called Palin "slutty" he said she was purchasing "slutty" makeup - hey, maybe the makeup manufacturers should start screaming for an apology! Also, he never called anyone a "whore"; he said Palin's daughter got knocked up during the 7th inning stretch, which is a joke on the fact that Bristol became pregnant under her mother's nose at home, so you never know where it could happen. Maybe not the funniest of jokes, but these were jokes - which are merely pointing out the ludicrous things that happen in real life. And why bring up Trig??? NO one mentioned him, just like Letterman never named Palin's children; SHE did that herself and then brought up rape and then virtually called Letterman a pedophile. I think she owes DAVE an apology.

People are thinking WAY too much into this. He is a comedian. He was telling a joke. Have you people ever heard other comedians tell their jokes? Ever heard of Lisa Lampenelli or Chelsea Handler? Letterman was WAY mild if you ask me....Palin made a huge deal about a stupid joke. So what, he said she looks slutty, it's the conservatives that read way to much into it and need to lighten up. its ok when conservatives gay bash or want to send all immigrants back to their country...because they are mostly hippocrates. The can sure dish it out but they can't take it back.

And for her family....well her daughter got knocked up at 18 out of wedlock, so maybe she should take a look at herself first, because apparently Letterman wasnt far off. Again, like the hippocrates conservatives are, she says one thing, but does another...

I got it first-hand and I don't understand your point. If your boss said you looked like a "slutty flight attendant" you'd be pretty pissed.

My point on the Trig comment was that people evidently have no line that they won't cross when it comes to Palin. I think that says much more about the people without the lines than Palin.

If I dressed that way at work, it would be inappropriate and I should be called out on it. Palin seems to want to walk around like she's Paris Hilton, but be given the same respect as Maragret Thatcher -- she can't have it both ways.

There were people back in Wasilla that have been whispering about the "Trig" issue well before McCain announced her. I have to admit that some of the "facts" about the pregnancy and birth don't add up. If the question bothers her so much, then the fact that she has never released a birth certificate is also odd. If she was the one that gave birth to him, it makes it look like there is something about it that she does indeed wish to keep hidden.

Palin is not a whore but she does exploit the "pitty me" and "poor me" angle. In fact, her response to the Matt Laur interview shows how she lies and distorts facts. Her quoting Pres. Obama as saying "Family's off limits. You don't talk about my family" is incorrect. When the news came out that Bristol Palin was pregnant, candidate Obama said that Mrs. Palin's family was "off limits". He did not say "my family's off limits" as Palin is quoated. His statement was clearly in response to the embarrassment of Mrs Palin's daughter being a teen pregnancy. He was not going to use it against Mrs. Palin. He did not refer to his family since there was no scandal to exploit. Palin's attempt at "poor me" his family's off limits but mine isn't, characterizes her dishonesty.
