Distinctions

Supporters of a woman's right to choose emphatically do not reject such judgements. Everybody recognizes that the reasons for getting an abortion can range from a necessity to protect the life of the bearer or in cases of rape or incest all the way down through a spectrum of judgements to potentially frivolous.

However, the decision of whether or not to terminate a pregnancy must rest ultimately with the bearer. The circumstances of each pregnancy are different. The decision to have an abortion should take into account medical opinions, personal faith, and the wishes of the father and the family.

I would not presume to be able to make this decision for someone else and I will fight back against Washington bureaucrats who would presume to make family planning decisions for me or anyone in this country.

Why do I have this crazy idea that you wouldn't have any problem with Washington bureaucrats making a decision about what drug you might be legally able to take? Or anything else you might want to take into your body? No, its just kiling things you want  to have a free pass on - good for you.

OK- so why not outlaw the frivolous ones? After all those are the ones that are controversial. There is very little controversy about abortion in the cases of rape/ incest/ mothers' health.

Lol. I think I'll go have a "frivolous abortion" today. What are you talking about?

This article is not news. Everyone has considered the moral questions regarding abortions. But a woman does not have to be raped in order for an abortion to be "earned", jesus, this is sick.

Look, until the State is ready to support all these births that will be forced upon the public if any "loving" right-wing law does away with abortion, even having a conversation about it is absurd. "Pro-life"? What does that mean? You support life up until birth, and not a moment after?

I'm pro-life: I support lives being brought into the world by able people who are ready to sustain them, support them, love them, etc, until--at least--they reach the age of 18. Furthermore, where o where are the fathers on this?

Why aren't they being counceled, held for 24 hours, and having their parents phoned to inform them of the "moral dilemma"?

And when I say I'm "pro-life" I mean PRO CHOICE. I support life through choice. Making sense?

And are you the one who gets to decide which abortions are frivolous?

The fifteen year old daughter of a single mother who just had a contraceptive failure. Frivolous or not?

The seventeen year old with mild mental retardation who doesn't understand the connection between sex and pregnancy, but who knew that her boyfriend wanted her to do it. Frivolous or not?

The college freshman, first in her family to go to college, doing all she can to stay in school. Frivolous or not?

The forty-two year old married mother of three who has learned that if she carries the pregnancy to term that the child is likely to have severe birth defects. Frivolous or not?

Better get busy, there are a lot of decisions about other people's lives for you to make.
