Flash Forward
by el_barto2

It sounds really interesting, yet ultimately too conceptual for network TV.

I mean where do you go with the premise. People (in LA? all over the world?) see a few minutes of the (their) future, but how far into the future is it?

Do they see ten minutes into the future or ten years (or 1,000)?

What would be really interesting is if everybody had a vision of some huge natural disaster, like a tsunami or meator impact, and the series delt with people's reactions (was it real, could it happen, could they prevent it, etc.)

But it could easily slip into something mediocre, like somebody sees himself holding hands with a person so he tries to find her, but she saw that he was her killer, etc. So instead of it being Heroes Seaon 1 redux, it turns into CSI: the future. You follow me.

But to really do something like this right would require it be on the BBC or HBO, otherwise it'll go the way of Firefly.

I get it now. everyone on earth "black's out" for 2'17" and see 6 months into their own future.

"What did you see" is the message on the teaser.

But, again, where do you go with this premise.

Man1: "I had a vision of myself, sitting in my cubicle, checking out sports center, like I usually do, except...I was wearing a pink shirt. The thing is...I don't have a pink shirt!!!"

Man2: "So sometime between now and 6 months you'll purchase a pink shirt. Next!"

You see what I mean? It can easily slip into mediocrity

Flash Forward is a book, actually! (By Robert J Sawyer) The book is quite good... it's the entire world, 20 years or so in the future, for about 2 minutes. And it is just glimpses of people's normal lives (mediocre or not) and the havoc it wreaks -- e.g. if you realize that 20 years from now you're married to someone else than you are now, you know your marriage is doomed to fail. Do you try to save it or give in to the (perhaps) inevitable....

I recommend the book! not sure about the tv show... haven't seen the previews :)
