Obama on Boehner--try the reverse.

In the next hundred days, our bipartisan outreach will be so successful that even John Boehner will consider becoming a Democrat. After all, we have a lot in common. He is a person of color. (Laughter.) Although not a color that appears in the natural world. (Laughter.) What's up, John? (Laughter.)

Try the reverse on that one.

What's up Obama? I think Mr. H nailed it. Obama was just plain nasty and unpresidential. The idea of self deprecating humor is lost on him--indicating a thin skin and a stadium sized ego. Not good.

And the jokes at the expense of his staff and allies seemed like more a way of bring them to heel for bad behavior than anything amusing or congenial. Much too biting and mean.

I also though Sykes bombed. Any regular poster on Daily Kos could have done a better, funnier job of dissing the repubs and Limbaugh. And it was embarrassing to see Obama in the background smiling and laughing. We can only hope that he grows into the dignity of the office.

You mean like this?

Noooo . . . you need to

take into account that Obama's jokes were written for him by staff writers. You don't really think that the president of the United States has time to sit around composing set ups and punch lines that will stand up to professional comedic scrutiny, do you?

So the problem is with Obama's joke writers and THEIR problem in turn is that most of them are still self-conscious about writing for a Black president. You know in that precisely what IS or IS NOT publicly approved PC humor under any and all circumstances? You can see them bending so far backward in that regard that they are looking between their own butt cracks.

Did you even get that joke? There are a couple of possibilities and neither bigotry or racism which you are implying comes close.

Not surprising for someone who harbors the possibility that elvislives.

What don't you get about the fact that Boehner paints is color on?

I saw Boehner on the news claiming it's from playing golf and doing yardwork....I'd like to know which golf courses provide that shade of orange so that I can avoid them.

And you don't think Obama uses Makeup for media appearances?

OK

Now, try reversing the joke, and see if you think it's funny.

Give it another shot...you're still striking out on the reverse-bigotry meter.

ps...do you know why Boehner takes those sunlamp "treatments?

It's to coverup his semi permanent flush from too much Jim Beam.

How can you? Obama comes by his color naturally. Boehner's isn't make up, it's a tan from a bottle. A really bad tan from a bottle. The type that you get from the barigan bins at the local CVS. If that was a racist joke, which it wasn't even close to being, what about the comment to Steele trying to speak street? Everybody seemed okay with that.

How do you know that?

Oh, come on. Obama was mocking Boehner's unnatural orange glow from over-tanning, not the Republican's natural white complexion, however, it may look under his layers of baked suntan juice. The only way one could try the reverse would be if Obama somehow artificially altered his natural black complexion a la Michael Jackson, who is often mocked by white comedians without any consequence to them. If Obama gets mocked for his natural color that would be racist. Just as it would have been racist for Obama to mock Boehner's natural color. Which he didn't. For Christ's sake, follow your own logic.

Inside information...but here are a couple of tidbits...

<link>

"George, the idea that carbon dioxide is a carcinogen that is harmful to our environment is almost comical. Every time we exhale, we exhale carbon dioxide. Every cow in the world, you know, when they do what they do, you've got more carbon dioxide. "

in an interview with George Stephanopoulos ABC

....now can you tell us how you know Elvis is alive?....(the inside info line has been used).

I am following my own logic. Did you not read these words: "After all, we have a lot in common. He is a person of color." Race based. And the joke was very nasty, personal and demeaning. In fact all of his nastiest lines were aimed at his political opponents, while his idea of self-deprecating humor was to make tongue in cheek remarks about how fabulous he is.

Not the way it's done. Traditionally at the WHCD, the biggest target in a "classy" presidential act is THE PRESIDENT. Not this time.

I thought it made him look petty and small.

From Wiki:

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion

Lets see if I meet the standard...

Controversial: this forum particularly is always controversial

Inflammatory: I think your comments are mostly inflammatory...but I am not complaining

Irrelevant: Ok. You got me here. I am guilty about observing your unique nickname.

Are you saying that my replies to you were not on topic? Doesnt blaming (on CNN I believe) global warming on cow farts project the possibility that the speaker is either crazy or drunk (and before noon too)?!!!!!

And you are quite humorless as well. You must actually believe Boehner when he says he gets his (permanent) tan on the golf course.
