Certainly you are correct that for the previous eight years they have been non-thinking, pain in the butt savages as a whole in their replies . . . just as liberals have degenerated into being and doing now that THEIR people are in charge. Most of the ankle-biters following me from board to board are doing so because they despise my politics and ideological insights, such as they are. No one is more vindictive than a political winner.

I personally prefer the old ignore feature but I am easy as far as solutions are concerned. I think that the old system made things easier on the Fray editor and that today's system just causes headaches.

Since I am a controversial poster the rating system degenerates into a popularity meter. The people disliking my personality automatically down rate my posts. If there are ten of them present then I get a negative ten regardless of the nature of the post itself. If, on the other hand my fans and friends are present then they automatically uprate my post -- assuming that it is not egregious garbage [unlike my legion of enemies, my fans and friends do have the capacity and integrity to make honest judgment calls]. Quite often I have a post with up to five in the plus column and ten in the negative. This is rating the quality of my post? No, it is rating my personality.

For most people this is not a problem, but that happens to me on a routine basis on the BOTF board. Still, I admit that this is a personal hassle not one that may be of import to other posters. That's why I labeled this a Wish List instead of a Demands List.

Thank you for contributing in a sane and civilized manner. Your posting reply example is how this stuff is supposed to be done. A couple of characters posting in this thread could learn from your good example of posting etiquette.

If the editor were ask me to contact him it would be simplicity itself to direct him to examples of stalkers like you automatically downrating me and even urging on other posters to do so simply because you do not like my posting personality or my politics or my ideology. By your own determined actions in this thread you have clearly stated that you will continue with this posting harassment. That is your prerogative. It's rather sad, but this personality disorder is one that only you can face over time and, hopefully, learn to be honest enough to eventually come to terms with.

Very well, now that you have decided to be at least that civilized I will remove my upmark. Of course if you or one of your posting buddies then downrates it again for your usual reasons I will uprate it again to compensate. It's your choice how we play this out.

I've never blocked anyone, but like you I have managed quite a fan list too, and suffer essentially the same types and forms of harrassment -- if that term apllies. The only diff is I pretty much confine myself to BB, so their is no following me around but there.

As I see it, with the feature I suggested at least the BS responses wouldn't be soiling up your post, and who knows, maybe the idiots would find some cajones and actually address what you TPed in one of their own. How funny could that become? Imo as well, this feature would also take away this fav form of harrassment of the dedicated common rightwingnut troll, who might wilt from boredom if all they are left with is an occasional idiotic TP not worth acknowledging with a response. I haven't posted over on BOTF for years, so I can't speak to the talents of the trolls I'm sure are there now, but those on BB these days are pretty uncreative and witless.

I've learned to love their "-" and generally non-topical efforts at rebutting what I post. The thinking people know what's what, and if I was posting for an audience, they'd be it, not the laughing hyenas that only have strength in their numbers, not themselves.

If you need to think I follow you around in order to get through your day then fine. Think whatever you like. But I have been posting on this site for years and on Fray-watch and BOTF for years, and TP for years before that. If you can't stand the fact that most people here think you are acting like an ass then quit acting like an ass.

Anyway, as stated; I'm not wedded to either approach as long as we have some sort of filtering feature. If people could ignore or not even see the posters known to be nothing more than drive by ankle-biters [as the other two posters in this thread have become] or mere mindless nits then there should be fewer flame wars.

Yeah I'm Cicero/Hauteur. I crafted the Gatewood nic way early last year and was just getting comfortable in its skin when the Slate/Fray system belched and would not let me use it anymore. Then I spent the entire rest of the year posting with a very old nic [almost as old as Cicero] Demcon, and then I stopped posting altogether about two months ago.

Upon my return, after a bit of password argument with the Slate/Fray system, lo and behold, it acknowledged Gatewood as a viable nic. Unless the system goes fubar on me again, I'll be posting exclusively as Gatewood for the foreseeable future. As I said, I am comfortable with the nic.

I gave you a bit of sound advice. Release the rage and bitterness and return to responsible posting. You'll be a better Fray citizen for making that decision.

If I have downrated one or more of your posts it was for what I would have considered a good reason. I seldom rate posts. If a downrate by myself was removed it was done by an Editor or a fray goblin and not me. For someone who proclaims not to be concerned with ratings you are awfully concerned about them

Gatewood is not being followed and harassed. He is baiting posters with inflammatory responses and call outs then pretending to be a victim of the very replies he seeks. It is very similar to some older women in the bars who have long outlived their youthful appearance yet continue to insist upon being the darling of the place. They'll do almost anything to keep the center of attention upon themselves.

It is a dishonest method to elevate himself without writing anything of substance, he simply proclaims he has substance and expects everyone to accept that he does. That he may have posted with substance in the distant past precludes the fact that he has yet to write a post of true substance since his return. This poster is AKA Demcon and has flagrantly and arrogantly harassed and insulted others for a long time. It seems funny that the person behind this current Nickname now thinks everyone should simply offer him the same respect and deference afforded to quality posters such as TheBell, when in fact he has used his abilities only to flame and play victim. Life, either on the Net or in the "meat world" (a term I recently learned from my nephew) doesn't work that way.
