Okay, bad joke I know.

Congratulations on your new position, in a few months it may seem as if condolences would have been the better term. However many people enjoy a tough challenge when they communicate or moderate between people. If you are one of these sorts of people then the challenge could make this a dream job for you.

One note of caution as you wade through these pages;

I appreciate the tips and the YouTube link to Primus videos. I’ve already read some of Geoff’s posts about the Secret Service thing and spoke briefly with some of the editors here about it. From what I understand, what Geoff said in his post was accurate.

I don’t know about Crawfish Lasagna, but Skillet Toast sounds like something I’d possibly be capable of handling in the kitchen.

As for my self-check marking, I figured that the "Editor’s Picks" was the best way to disseminate the news of a new editor here.

And I see the critics are circling you already. Just why was it again that you jumped into this shark tank?

Well, guess what. I don't see a thing wrong with your moniker, your resume, your use of a blue check (TO CALL ATTENTION TO THE NEED TO READ THE MESSAGE, PEOPLE -- how clueless and/or cynical can some of you be?), or even your European connections. In fact, your nickname seems to fit with your mild-mannered style of writing in this opening post.

I myself haven't been in the tank for quite a few months, being very busy (and also very tired of the sharks), but one of my fellow longtime Poems Fraysters called me back to read a limerick, I saw that Slate has gone sans editeur for some time, and thought the thread worth a read. It is.

As for me, if you're wondering after this spiel if my moniker reflects either the white rabbit in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland or the white rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail...yes. :)

I'd just like to put in a word for cleanup of the swamp known as Ballot Box. It's a board which the previous editor(s) allowed to exist unmoderated but for the occasional purge, but as one of the fastest-moving boards on the Fray, deserves some real moderation. In every sense of that word.

It seems to me that a firm, yet sensible approach to moderation, in which genuinely insane and/or objectionable posts and posters are removed but free-wheeling discussion is allowed would be the best course, not just in BB but across the Fray. You will have your own opinions on that, naturally...but the not-so-benign neglect of the previous administration was IMO a total failure.

I mean, there are rules here, shouldn't they be enforced evenly and for all? Just sayin'.
