I, as several here, gravitated from War Stories. Never fully understood what happened there. Have a slight idea though of what happened, though I thought it was foolish-you don't kick off war vets on a board entitled "War Stories".

What I did find at KFS, for the most part, was some bright and fun people. And yes, I did bring up Nam a lot, because I was trying to prove a point to never let it happen again-we did. But with Obama I don't think this is going to happen again. I met people with diverse views that I did not always agree with but we found a common ground.

Truett is an example; he is very religious; I am not. I do not believe in JC and the white man's God but I do believe in a greater spirit. He accepted my belief and because of our experience in combat as well as our pleasant discourse, he has been a friend to me.

But over the last 3-4 weeks, I have seen a posts from people that never paid much attention to this board, ripping some long time posters here. One slams another about poetry (Take it to that Poetry Frayline) and this one seems to be on drugs or testing the wine. I then saw another little guy call one of our very decent women, a "Bitch". Well that crossed the line with me because that lady did not deserve that bullshit.

Then I saw Loree deciding not to post and that is not fair. But neither is taking some of her personal stuff and posting it on the Net.

So maybe it is up to us to ignore the ones denigrating the fray line and telling the editors to get their shit together and cut-off this crap.

I would still like to debate with Arkady, BG, and others like them so that we do something constructive and learn from each other.

I have enjoyed our exchanges - and appreciated your support. But I fear that JD and his hate mongers have chased away too many of the regular posters to keep this board viable. Time will tell, but the number of daily posts has dwindled day by day.

Denny: That's because we let it happened. When I get the time and I think I will, I won't let that happen, Neither will the "thinkers". I like the extra time when I can find it. And There is only JD and one other poster that has mutiple NICs-Why worry?!

First of all Cherokee, I used to take my 'poems' to the Poetry Fray, but holy cow...top about 'elitist, better than you are' people:-) It didn't take me but about 3 or 4 trips there, to learn where my place was:-) And it sure wasn't there.

There is no way in hell that everyone is going to agree with everyone else...that goes against human nature, and we were all given a brain to use it, forming opinions and thoughts, but the nice thing about that is that man learns by SHARING those. And what he learns by bing hammered and pounded is that not all people are capable of GOOD discourse and discussion. And those type of people, who lack communication skills that are polite and acceptable, are better just ignored.

Yet it is awfully easy to lean over that 'sucking sound' and get pulled in:-) Especially if you have red hair?!

The KFS will survive, and good luck to all of you...and may you learn from each other, especially the art of getting along.

What seems like some new faces are just old faces with new names. I'm never very good at figuring out what their old names were though.

Sometimes some really good discussions get going and it can be a lot of fun. It would be nice if that can continue. One of the problems is that people take advantage of the fact that we've asked the board managers to pretty much leave us alone. It was either that or constantly get banned for things that didn't deserve it.

We've always kind of gone in streaks. Things would be smooth for a while and then we'd have a couple of people who would constantly make personal attacks and take everything downhill. That would level off and then we'd be ok for a while again. Whatever it is it's addicting as many of the oldtimers come back for a visit from time to time.

I'm with you though. It would be nice if we can keep it alive.

Nah: we aren't going to allow this to happen. You even have a friend "across the water", Wulk. He didn't always agree with me, said he could not always follow my posts. Well things have changed and I got my act together.

Don't sweat the small stuff and the small stuff is the"invaders" which consists of one little man and his "multi-Nic" groupie. So, regardless of what I said to you, keep on posting. Let's keep KFS viable and you are a fun part. I know what I said to you earlier but I decided we need to keep this Frayline alive-Right?1

Since the election, people in general seem to be in a funk--so many problems to be faced, little good news and perhaps this contributes to the malaise.

Whatever the cause, more and more there seems to be so much hatred--not the joking sort but the kind intended to destroy. And, yes, I confess I've been drawn into it at times.

However, when a person is so filled with the sort of hatred intended to destroy another, it's time to quit this place. Hatred destroys from within and there's no worse stench than that of a rotting soul. There is good to be found but it's become increasingly difficult to find here and I'll miss the friends I've made here. Thankfully, I have another board, a private one where the rule is one can disagree without being disagreeable. That's a refuge.
