Poem For Us Sitting Ducks In A Tuesday Blind

and that 'poet' John Hogden applying his trade, is no better than Mr. Magoo playing optometrist. No doubt there will be symphonies written to critique this graceless note of a poem doing honor to Pinsky's Super Tuesday by another Walmart prduced poet..Only this product was made here in the USA and not in China, king of the mass factory and ersatz.

Hogden's mesaage to us:

"perhaps, the tossed banana peel
with the businessman's wingtip approaching, the hurtling safe heading
down for our heads, all of us so intensely looking elsewhere, as if our lives
were God's New Yorker cartoons, all his back issues stacked up, the ones
with the Elizabeth Bishop poems, teetering, in his waiting room."

Gee Whiz. Hogden has read a poem or two..or three. This poem should have slid out the door of that waiting room carrying the poet on wing tips of banana peel.

And I wish these marketplace writers would leave old ladies alone and realize that it is they and not their subjects who need a new lens for glasses or a corneal transplant from a real poet..And that the 'tranquility' they assume is the wished for stage before that ultimate peace called death..Is that 'sea' on the moon to where they should be banished forever until they eschew writing more poems about the perceptions of old women in contrast to what a 'poet' thinks about..

The bell told..and it peeled for thee John Hogden.

Artemesia, this line is a clever satire of one of Hogden's many annoying mannerisms in this poem.

√ marks the spot!

Great critique Artemesia, and humorous as well. I enjoyed your opening paragraph! And closing line!
Well, actually the whole thing. Very funny . . . but oh so true! Getting your words worth made getting this dud worthwhile. [heh heh]

Thanks for the snort! The last big laugh I elicited was in this critique of mine:
