Re: Not Really
by question?

I congratulate you and your parents for their emphasis on responsability and education. It created a far different out come for you. Have you considered that many people equate scantily dressed teens with a lack of parental concern. The manner of dress is a symptom not a cause?

I think most people ultimately want all children to grow up and become successful happy adults. Many teens end up as casualties of sex and drugs and the numbers have been increasing. Teen pregnancy is a social ill that spawns a dozon other problems, poverty, dependency, child abuse, dropping out of school, juvenile delinquency etc.

Teens are bad decision makers and risk takers because they think "it won't happen to me". What makes people nervous is not teen sexuality, but the intersection of bad decision making skills and catastrophic consequences for the individual and for society.

I haven't had a chance to wade through the numerous pages of posts on this subject yet, but I've already gone through the first two. What I noticed was missing from every single one of them is the fact that these are clothes our kids will be wearing to school. My daughter is not going to school to embrace her sexuality or attract a mate, she's going to school to learn and some skimpy tank top or mini skirt isn't going to help her do that.

If you don't mind your daughter dressing like a tramp, that is your decision, but don't condemn other mothers out there for saying that they don't want their daughters to put forth that kind of "open for business" image.

As a side note, anyone who thinks that you have to dress like a whore to get a man needs to do some serious soul searching. The kind of man that is going to be attracted to that kind of outward appearance will probably never appreciate her for anything that she has inside.
