Here <link> we have an old-fashioned idea using a new media and she whines. Cartoonist have done this sort of thing for decades if not centuries. Painting a politician holding compromised political cronie like a baby has been a mainstay of cartoonists. Crying wolf is not a winning political strategy.

While I do agree that the Letterman joke was bad on several levels, I see nothing wrong with the doctored picture. It is clearly not in the same league with "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly. Because her father is Janet Reno".

Can you imagine what the far left would have to say if someone made a similar joke about Mrs. Obama being slutty. I am pretty open minded and I like David Letterman, but I think he crossed the line with the joke.

Well, not everyone has a sense of humor. I was in the checkout line recently and laughed at the National Enquirer article about Mrs. Obama being an alcoholic. Then as I was leaving I noticed the African-American woman with the Michell Obama hairdo and the Michelle Obama sleeveless dress outfit staring daggers at me like she wanted to kill me.

I wonder how soon until David Letterman will be making "Michelle Obama is an alcoholic" jokes?

the full names of your wife and daughters [hell and your sons as well] and have David Letterman make obscene sexual jokes about them on national television. It's always FUN whenever ANYONE is humiliated or destroyed in public.

I can't wait until Letterman begins joking about how slutty Michelle looks -- did you see her wearing those stretch pants during the health care interview? But then that would never happen would it? What WOULD happen if David Letterman began launching broadsides -- as jokes -- against Michelle AND her daughters? YOU LIBERALS would demand the end of his career.

If the viewer had no sense of humor, loads of stuff would be deemed controversial, including any joke about Obama by a white comedian, I guess.

But, I wonder the context of the alcholic joke. The question seems to ignore the context of the jokes here, one repeatedly discussed, thinking Letterman will just say any outrageous thing like some sort of shock jock. You appeared to laugh at the absurdity of the article. Such an absurdity joke is quite possible, if the public actually -- like here -- had the matter on their mind.

As to her alcholic tendencies (contra her husband's smoking), that simply does not exist. Few think about that, though a comedian might make a joke about absurd stories. It wouldn't be "funny" then just to shoot off a comment about her drinking. OTOH, some think the President is not a citizen. Joking about that, let's say "actually he is from Mars," might be said. That black woman might not find it amusing, but that's separate.

Regardless of the opinions and other facts in the Letter-Palin "relationship" the one fact that cannot be disputed is that Palin is the grandmother of a bastard.

Tragically, her grandson seems to be the poster child for Republican morals, logic, and sense of responsibility (or lack thereof).
