This stuff just makes my head hurt. That's why I watch fox news to get my daily talking points. So much easier than reading and gathering info from diverse sources, etc. One-stop shopping makes my life easier. Sometimes I listen to Rush, but then I start to get confused. Better to just stick with fox. It's simple, like me.

You guys don't understand the issues very well. I want Letterman to be fired by the company - but I don't want the state to press them to do so. I exercise my freedom of speech by expressing outrage. I am not calling for anyone's first amendment rights to be stepped upon.

But liberals want to use the state power to shut down talk radio. There's the difference. God, you guys are tense.

You just equated citizen protest with the government shutting down private media outlets. You are not too bright.

For the record, Dave has been telling jokes about squirrel genitals for some thirty years now and nobody seems to get enough of that. Or smelly foreign cab drivers. Or the ubiquity of the rat population of New York City.

But more than anything, Dave and Jay and Conan make jokes about celebrities. That is why people tune in every night - they want to hear celebrities made fun of.

The Palins are celebrities. Just like Madonna or Paris Hilton or any of the silly American Idol people. They have embarrassed themselves in public and people pay to hear jokes about those kinds of people. This is not a political stunt, at least not on the part of Dave. Sarah, sure, Dave no.

And one last point - Letterman is definitely the self effacing type. He has made jokes about his son being illegitimate, his lack of a marriage license and all that. He has had guests (Juliet Roberts comes to mind, but there has been many more) that come on and relentlessly humiliate him over his somewhat tawdry (only recently amended) lifestyle.

You see, Dave is a celebrity too. And he jokes about celebrities.

One notices that the Slate's Fray Editor selected ONLY a pro-Letterman top post for this controversial issue. Dozens of top quality anti-Letterman posts were created and yet none of them got singled out by Slate's LIBERAL Fray Editor for community admiration.

The raw hypocrisy of liberals on this issue is breathtaking. Not a single one of them would endorse Letterman's crude and filthy 'jokes' were the following scenario true. You liberals have a young daughter and for some reason she and your family name became household items after she got pregnant out of wedlock. Now a year after the furor died down David Letterman used her as the butt of an obscene joke on national television. Ta-da! Would ANY of you liberals currently approving of these attacks launched against Sarah Palin and her daughters then publiclly THANK David Letterman for abusing YOUR daughter on national television?

One presumes you would not. This makes each and every one of you currently approving of Letterman's Palin 'jokes' major league hypocrites.

But let's take this a couple of steps further since at least half of the Internet population that was on top of the story when it broke DID assume that Letterman was actually targeting the only Palin daughter KNOWN to be at the game. So all your fourteen year old daughter's school friends also KNOW that she was portrayed as a slut on national television. Wouldn't THAT make you want to pay respectful homage to Letterman?

But wait! Let's bump it up a bit further. Let's say that one of your two publicly humiliated daughters, liberals, could no longer stand the vile slander and committed suicide as a result of Letterman's obscene joke. Would YOU invite Letterman to the funeral and ask him to retell the "jokes" to the mourners?
