Re: Gender Issue Lives On as Clinton Hopes Dim
by scooterhedrick

That experience issue is getting real old. Need to really get some facts before you start saying such informed things.

Barack Obama - 11 years experience

- US Senate 2004-Current

Hillary Clinton - 7 years eperience
- US Senate 2001-Current

And as you can see from the list below, many of our past presidents held no prior public office and many more if you don't consider military commanders as serving public office.

"Had it been a fair contest rather than one deliberately stacked against her, she would have won,"

Who stacked the contest against HRC? The DNC and the media? Why? Because they don’t like women? They want to keep oppressing them?

This sounds delirious.

She lost. Fare and square.

Re: Did you read the article, FOJ?
by entj4sure

Clinton supporters who are now voting for McCain may cite any number of examples why...but the one they can't cite is that they are a feminist! No real feminist would vote for McCain when we are looking at two possible Supreme Court Appointees in the next few years. Let me repeat that...no REAL feminist will vote for McCain and risk Roe vs. Wade being overturned.

Further, let me offer a different view. As a feminist, I am embarrassed at the behavior of many female Clinton supporters. This childish behavior only reinforces that women are "hysterical". For women to vote against their own self interests because they are mad that their candidate isn't the nominee is a slap in the face of real feminists. You can write all you want about "little girls faces", you can pretend that you are feminists, but you are most certainly not! Voting for McCain is selling out. You will deny future generations of women the right to safe and legal abortions. You are selling out your daughters, granddaughters, and nieces because you are unhappy with the election results. And lastly, you are selling out the thousands and thousands of women in the 60's who fought so hard for these rights! You are an embarrassment to your sex!

Sawbones hits the nail's head

"This is the thing that has been coming back over and over again, but you don't seem to see it: it's not a gender issue, so much as a generational issue."

The difference between older and younger women's attitudes is reminiscent of the difference between Rev. Wright's and Obama's attitudes.

Pro Choice Republicans Endorse McCain
by LaurieAnnM

<link>

Both sides left and right will scream he's either pro life or pro choice.

But he's as centrist as they come.

He has a CNN quote from 4/2008 as well, where he said he wanted' to be perfectly clear that he does not support government intervention or control over any aspect of private citizen's health care decisions.'

Unbelievable.
by topazz

I don't know why the Obama supporters continue to try and argue the issue.

You couldn't have a collection of more thoughtful, sane or more reasonable Obama posters as you do in this thread of yours. They didn't come on here to "argue" with you, they're simply and quite legitimately attempting to reason with you because of what you posted. Unfortunately, they don't yet realize that it is futile to do so, and that you feed off the discord you serve up with your self-delusional, self-congratulatory political "insight". You don't deserve the time or the energy these posters put into trying to honestly engage with you.

The reason anyone makes a top post here is presumably to invite discussion, no? Yet when someone actually responds to your post, you twist their words back at them, then continue to post inflammatory remarks that allude to how Hillary wuz robbed and how Obama is being "handed" the nomination, etc. and then express utter shock and dismay! when your nonsense is disputed.

Good Afternoon

" You don't deserve the time or the energy these posters put into trying to honestly engage with you."

Sure they do. This is one of the most civil obama/clinton exchanges I've seen in a while.

I happen to also think I deserve some direct answers to questions I posed earlier ;).

Re: Pro Choice Republicans Endorse McCain
by scooterhedrick

You want to take that chance?

You want to assume that McCain's not just blowing smoke up your ass to get your vote?

You want to assume he won't pull a Bush and say he's going to reduce taxes when actually he cuts services to underserved citizens and moves the money to his cronies (a tax wash)? Kind of like the tax holiday. BTW did you know that China and Saudi Arabia are fronting the funds for your "rebate checks"?

You assume he will receive no preassure from the right-wing to install anti-choice supreme court judges?

You assume he won't change his mind about staying in Iraq for 100 years. He's already flip-flopped once (now it's what 2010?).

You assume he won't have a senior moment and actually push the button?

If he gets elected what makes you think he won't take that as approval of the Republican agenda and proceed like the last 8 years?

Stupid, arrogant, vicious, unchristian....if McCain is elected we will get what we deserve and I will have no sympathy for the "uneducated poor white working class" and turncoat Dems that put him into office.

My pension and insurance are secure, my house and car are paid off and my wife is past child bearing years so destruction of the democratic platform will hurt others before it hurts me.

God Bless America if John McCain's elected....we will need it.
