Our local Arby's is fine
by opus512

I don't know why other people have such problems with decent fast food, but locally all our fast food is IMO decent, if not great. I've argued with people online about how bad McDonald's is, for example, ours is just fine localy.

But them I'm in northern Michigan where we laugh at healthy food, heh.10 years ago when I lived in Boulder Colorado, there was one Burger King, one McDonald's, and one Pizza Hut, and I believe there was on KFC. The three years I lived there, the Pizza Hut closed dwn and a fruit smoothie place opned in it's stead. Locally, in a city one third the size of Boulder, we have just in the city limits three McDonald's, thee Burger Kings, two Taco Bells, one KFC, two Pizza Huts, and this doesn't include the other half dozen misc same stores withing a mile or two of the small city limts.

Anyway, I like Arby's. Don't eath there much as they're kind of expensive. Same reason I don't eat much at KFC. Arby's is the last holdout, at least locally, that has NO budget menu, let alone a 'dollar' menu of some kind. KFC just started theirs, though nothing is a dollar, at least they have a budget menu now.

Until Arby's comes up with and advertises heavily a decent, value oriented dollar style menu, they'll keep sliding downhill. The main Arby's here in town, it's been here at least 30 years, it's almost a landmark. And, the food is fine. Go for the curly fries next time.

that people like you are paying the expenses of pols in Warshington and the UN, where dinners with wine often run to $1500 a head.

You should also think twice about eating hormoned meat from staggering animals with serious diseases and homogenized into meat-paste banned outside USA.

The curly fries are the best fries of any chain. They have just the right amount of seasoning and crispiness. The problem with Arby's is that they often seem to be in hard to find locations. I often overlook or forget about them in my daily travels.

Meat-paste, hormones, whatever. It tastes good.

It might taste good, but it isn't good for you. You'd be better off buying the ingredients and making your own Arby's style sandwich. I found the recipes right here: <link>

I haven't been to Arby's in ages and ages, but I do remember that they had good jalepeno poppers last time I was there.

This is probably why Colorado is the thinnest state in the country and Michigan is definitely not. I'd rather live in a place with 1 McDonald's and some nice smoothie places.

jlco if you are using the same ingredients, how is it any healthier for you? It is the same stuff. They process the crap out of the stuff you buy at the store just like they do at the fast food places.

Just wondering where in northern Michigan. Most of the northern Michigan towns I’ve been through have mostly non-chain restaurants once you get away from the highway exits.

Christ, the class issue really crept into this thread, didn't it?

What in God's holy name are you talking about? What the hell does eating at Arby's have to do with politicians in Washington and the UN?

It's not meat paste, you asshole. I know people that have worked there. It's real beef, roast beef, like you would buy in the store. It's also not mad cow walking dead shit either. Take your self righteous bullshit somewhere else.

You should think twice about opening your mouth when you have nothing substantial, or intelligent, to say.

Cheey capitol of the world, baby. You either know it or you don't, heh. We're major major tourist oriented. We have, oh, I don't know, just in the city limits probably forty resteraunts of varying kinds. That's not including the big fast food chains. There aren't really any highway exits around here, we're a destination spot. If you drive through here, it's because you were coming here.

What a coincidence, I'd rather you live there too.

Traverse City, I suspect. Great place to visit. I love the Traverse Bay area, and the Little Traverse Bay area even more.

He said Boulder, not Colorado in its entirety. Believe me, we have plenty fast food joints in the Denver area. Must be some other reason we're the thinnest state in the country - if we are (I certainly am not thin...).

I can remember going to Arby's as a kid... way back then they used to have a really fine salt, not sure if it can even be found anywhere these days, not at Arby's, anyway.

More recently, they definitely strike me, like someone mentioned above along with KFC, as too expensive. I like dollar sandwiches, and especially dollar sandwiches that give you a lot - Burger King, where I almost never go, currently has some sort of competitive special going with a double cheeseburger for a buck that - while apparently advertised against Wendy's - blows McD's dollar double out of the water. (Kind of funny, since only two weeks earlier I decided to try and was thoroughly disgusted with their $1 Cheesy Mcdouble or whatever it was called - think had like a dollar coin size of some cheese sauce on it for the cheese! Yuck.... almost kept me from trying this new deal but man, it was good!)

Anyway. I like fast food. I like food, period. And yes, I am overweight.

Give the man a ceegar. Yeah, great area. I moved away once, came back, plan to die here. Wasn't born here, but might as well have been.
