Arby's
by Kalimac
Regrettably enthusiastic agreement with Moneybox's final point. I remember Arby's fondly from childhood, but when I went to try it again a couple years ago, it was the most vile and pathetic excuse for a sandwich since the cafeteria car on BritRail. That's why they're tanking, far more than any fad for healthier menus: the food stinks. Maybe it'll get better after the Wendy's merger - Wendy's is about as good as a fast-food hamburger gets - but few will risk their lunch finding out.

I'm from Ohio originally, and back in the day when eating somewhere out of the house was a rare treat (usually when we were travelling) Arby's was one of our top choices. It was considered the high-brow fast food, since it wasn't greasy burgers & such. I loved the regular roast beef w/ Horsey Sauce (though I found that a silly name, even as a kid!), and a Jamocha shake. The curly fries they introduced later were great, as I'm not a fan of regular fries.

It's true, I ate at an Arby's last year & was disappointed that standards seemed to have slipped. I think one of their mistakes was trying to diversify the menu too much. Stick to one thing you do well & keep the standard high. All the other extraneous sandwiches I'd rather get at a proper deli!
