I listened to the song and I'm not sure where he decided that it was rusted root vs. Whitney Houston (probably has something to do with him being Jody Rosen).

Maybe the rhythm is somewhat like rusted root, but otherwise I don't see it.

I thought it was pretty good, the vocals are too far front, but otherwise a pretty decent song.
