Ayn Rand review
by Edward Cline

Johann Hari's "review" of the biographies of Rand by Jennifer Burns and Anne Heller was not so much a review as a venomous attack on Rand herself. The appearance of these biographies has given any critic harboring a seething animus for Rand the excuse to let down his hair and go berserk. While Hari repeatedly stated that Rand had psychological problems stemming from childhood trauma, as I read his "review" I wondered about his own mental problems. His piece represents the kind of writing I'd expect of dumbed-down, indoctrinated college students conditioned to hate all things Rand by their professors. Not only does he get things wrong, he simply invents things to complement his errors. Shame on Slate for publishing this bilge. I just may unsubscribe to Slate for allowing this to appear under its banner. Next time, Johann Hari, stick to the subject, which in this case were the biographies, not how much you hate Rand.
