eh, I can't fault the government on this one

this summer, the situation was: We'd have a "normal" flu that usually kills 30 to 40 thousand people, and an H1N1 that might make a lot of people sick, but unless they had other predisposing factors (when it can be deadly) doesn't seem to kill that much.

They therefore decided to run with the normal flu vaccine first? Makes sense.

And to try out a NEW method for making a vaccine? On the populace in a country who is afraid of the current one that's been tested for years? Are you nuts? The jenny mccarthys of this country would be going nuts! and with their support of the media, NO ONE would be getting vaccinated. Nope, better to test the monkeyvac on Europeans for a few years, and if none of them end up with autoimmune disorders, bring it here.

Also, look how much more media coverage the shortage is getting and how much more careful some people are being simply because of the shortage. Amanda Ripley covered this on her blog and I was intrigued:
