Money
by businessanalyst
Like so many things in life, this comes down in the end to money. Consider even a narrow body jet like the 737. In the course of a year one could expect maybe 40,000 passengers to use that airplane and pay their share of the cost of buying and maintaining the very sophisticated and expensive automation on it. How many people in that same year are going be in a private automobile? Obviously not enough to pay for that level of equipment.
