At first it didn't bother me, 'cause I'm pro-choice.

But the "Server Error, Thread Was Being Aborted" message is getting a bit old.

Are you getting the impression that as opposed to figuring out ways to fix the problems, they're thinking about perhaps dumping the whole thing and starting over with article based comments only?

I am.

I think tha's probably coming.
by Archaeopteryx
But why not just turn off the Fray and start the new comments system? I think this is just a symptom of a crappy system.

oh thank God....I thought I was the only one with that problem. I was about to take a BFH to this machine. Otherwise known as a precision alignment tool.

log in difficulties during the last year of the old fray? Well, this is the New Fray's version of that. It's not for nothing that they're calling it an "abortion" ... unlike all us idiots who will continue posting around unspeakable technical conditions, there are going to be thousands of posters who opt to just fugggetttabbbouttttit. Think of all the meaningful discussions that we'll never be able to read. Posts will never be given the chance to thread and flourish. And yes, I'm pro-life, and I'm now sobbing hysterically and running out of the room screaming.

I miss the Bergdorf Goodman ads, like to keep up with the latest fashions. Try double clicking each time -- works for me. Just when you've become adjusted, they'll fix it.

I don't get Bergdorf Goodman ads, I get Pottery Barn ads. Sounds like they've been spying on us all along and now configure the sidebar ads to our web history. I wonder what they'd put up there if I'd been looking at porn sites instead of furniture?

Urq? Arch? Care to share?

Any decision to abort is tragic but necessary Arch.

The only solace is that with systemic efforts to address causal and attendant cuircumstances, thread abortions will become by the grace of God less and less frequent. Frankly, I'm surprised there are any abortions at all these days, given that one of JTM's immediate predecessors, Moira Redmond, after she was reluctantly convinced that it might not be just a user-error problem, formally announced several months ago that the chronic "server error" problems had been solved. So I'm not quite sure what you're referencing.

Regardless, Arch, your concern should properly be directed to that veritable hotbed of customer service and satisfaction, the famed Technical Support board. The only difference between Technical Support and Fraywatch as a customer-service or Slate Feedback venue is that after a logistical issue is ignored for months here, a supercilious Editor may finally appear to pay lip-service to quality-control concerns, or condescend to posters directly. So, Technical Support is the better venue, all told.
