Incontrovertible Proof of Norah Jones' Dullness
by JuneThomas SlateIcon

A few years ago, I had to have an MRI. If there's one thing they want you to know, it's that you MUST NOT MOVE while you're in the machine. They used all this foam to keep my head immobile--I was all pinned in like a precious Asian pear--but they also piped music into the chamber. Music that, I can only assume was guaranteed not to cause a person to tap their toes or nod their head. And what did they play? Norah Jones.

Case closed.

The only Norah Jones vocal I find remotely interesting is her guest vocal on "More than This" on the great 2001 Charlie Hunter album "Songs from the Analog Playground", and even there she is vastly overshadowed by Kurt Elling's vocal on a different track. Bah. Snorah Jones indeed. The Frere-Jones article was damning by faint praise I thought.

Check out her guest spot on Peeping Tom's "Sucker," it's at least a departure lyrically!

I actually kind of like some of her music, a little. But her first album had to be the weakest album every to earn 5 grammy awards. But after watching this video, all I can say is, has no one ever heard of the Crimson Permanent Assurance?

You're right. She's certainly no Miley Cyrus...
