'Shouting the new spanking'
by cappy6

Although I grew up in a upper middle class family, my parents friends and associates were 'pillars of society'. However, in any event under the superficial mode of illusion- was my Mother's 'Scream tactics'. Nearly 45 years later, neither I nor my sister cannot withstand 'Shouting matches'. Both of us were in our early 30's before realizing what an impact her tirades had left on both of us. The abuse over the most petty of infractions in our Mother's home seems more than absurd, considering what 'kids' get away with today. The movie "Mommie Dearest" was on target as how we lived our lives under her roof. To this day, I cannot withstand confrontations- and neither can my sibling. (she would actually wake you up in the middle of the night to 'pick a fight with us.' Relationship wise- both sibling and myself found we prefer the company of select people and NEITHER of us can sleep in the same bed with a spouse. I never married but my sister has- twice to find what I've known for years. We are damaged merchandise, and although my sister had one child- she raises her child with the determination of 'normalcy'. Hat's off to her- I say. By the way, although blood brother and sister- we were adopted; in which we were reminded quite frequently with the venom of a Rattlesnake from our beautiful but ugly adoptive Mother. Parents have to learn the education of RESPECT in which both parent and child should utilize cohesively.

Good Luck Parents.
