Feel good journalism that uses poor kids to make its points. These kids aren't doing the reporting or finding the story. I listen to these. It is reporters finding a story that they want to tell and using the kids as props to make their point. Use the kids, drop em like hot potatoes and have NYC public radio listeners thinking that they understand the urban poor so much better than others who don't listen to public radio due to their listening to a 10 minute story while they stuff their day's necessities into their eoc-totes. Blech.
