Now I know what to do about my own fees
by USNVETERAN

I am an exceptionally talented appliance repairman.

In fact, I am "FABULOUSLY TALENTED".

I believe that I have now learned that I can exponentially raise ny fees due to this.

I may be able to retire in a month or so.

Thank you, ambulance chasers.

The best part is, you can bid the job low and only give a high bill AFTER you get the job, and send in a final bill. How sweet is that?
You can charge as much as you want for your services

and if people are willing to pay you the amount you seek, everything will work out just fine.

Of course USN there doesn't have the benefit of a bystander imposing an additional fee that his clients HAVE to pay just because he did a super job. It'd be like your next door neighbor coming over and forcing you to pay an extra 20 bucks an hour because he thinks your telephone repairman did a really good job for you. You know, because your next door neighbor wants to encourage that telephone repairman to come by more often.
If USN had a fee listed for his repairs

and I contracted him to repair my refrigerator, for a set price, and he did repair my refrigerator, and then sent me a bill for 10 million dollars, I would just take the matter to Court.

If it was found out at trial that my neighbor was the one that told USN that I need to pay the 10 million dollars I would also take my neighbor to Court.

When the Lawyers took the case just how much was the contracted price for their services?

I had not seen the original contract for winning the case against the State.

If the State Government abused children in the State then the State should pay 10 million dollars.

If the State in question was the Catholic Church instead I do not believe there would be such an outcry for keeping the monetary payment low.

I agree that the bump is Punitive, but, since the only thing the Government cares about is Money, the best way for the State to ensure that the abuse of children under State care does not happen again is to have the State lose many, many millions of dollars. I would have hit the State with bills for Hundreds of Millions of Dollars.

I think the better analogy for this is that it's the football referee awarding a team an extra five points for a touchdown because he thought the coach made a really good play call. I would also like to point out that traditionally punitive damages go to the aggrieved party and not their lawyers, but I suppose in our screwed up legal system anything is possible.
2 Point Conversion Rule gives extra points.

Rules are changed all the time.

I would like to know just how much each abused kid got, out of the many abused kids, do you know?.
