Honda Fell Flat in '80s Due To Demographics

Honda had warehouses full of motorcycles in the 1980's in the U.S. due to a significant demographic change they hadn't anticipated. Your average motorcycle buyer was a male aged 18 - 25. When the last baby boomers passed that age in the early '80's, there was a huge demographic hole in that category. They couldn't give the bikes away. It took years to recover.
