I am actually one of those "extra workers" who "show up ready to spring into action and roll out the tarp in case of rain." Earlier this season I took some pictures and posted my own thoughts about a glorious opening day at the ballpark:

As an occasional part-timer who helps the Nationals' grounds crew I have to say that Emily's article did a nice job of capturing the pride and professionalism of the crew. These guys know their stuff, are great at what they do, and have a level of attention to detail that is admirable.
