Re: It's not that difficult.

I don't disagree with what you've said, and certainly I had similar reactions to this bride's color choices. But just to be fair to the Bridezilla LW, if the message we want to convey is "Lighten up, it's just one day," then it strikes me that we're on somewhat shaky ground if we go on to say "but don't choose colors that will haunt you for the rest of your life."

You know what - my mother was married during WW2, in a gorgeous navy blue silk suit, very very classic, very very 1940s. And a fab little cocktail hat with veiling down to her nose. When I was little, I was mad because her wedding portrait did not have her in a poufy white meringue thing, like all my friends' mothers.

When I grew up, I realized she was the classiest, most elegant bride I have ever seen. Never laughed once. There ARE classic, snicker proof, non-boring outfits out there. Very much of their time, but also timeless.

Aww, I love this post! My grandpa was married in his Navy uniform and looked so so handsome. And I adore my parent's wedding photo with my dad's Buddy Holly glasses and my mom's classic Audrey Hepburn dress. What I think makes both photos so great is that they wore something that really showed who they were at the time, and didn't try to dress up as someone they weren't for a day.

(My parents? Mustard tuxedos and white guys with 'fros. Wedding date: 7/8/78)

A couple of years earlier and the guys might have been in leisure suits!

The brown tux is nothing, compared to the leisure suits of the 70's. I remember so vividly going to parties in the height of style in my pumpkin orange or lime green leisure suit with the ultra-wide collar paisley shirts. Worse, I still have some pictures to prove it did so. Now those are memories to make you go "brrr".
I had a rather stout friend who had a grapefruit yellow one. Not a pretty sight, especially from behind!
But, but ...

Did you notice the subheader under the title?

Dallas Wedding Consultant.

Then did you notice all the comments?

"Where can we find them...?

"Ooh! Cool!"

"I want one for my groom!"

It said, "Chocolate tuxes are all the rage for 2007." That's so last year!
