If this was the US, it wouldn't have been just the Muslim immigrants who were outraged ! Am beginning to wonder if that's one reason why immigrants feel happier in USA, esp if they come from conservative cultures to begin with. The general society is a lot more conservative and old-fashioned than Europe, so doesn't challenge the immigrants too much.

The article I read said that making the classes mandatory angered some Muslim immigrants, although the more assimilated young seem unconcerned by it. I assume that those offended can put their children in private religious schools or move to a different country, same as I tell my Christianist friends, so is a minor issue.

I am with Tzed, They can either buck up and assimilate, enroll their children in private schools that conform to their values and sensibilites or immigrate elsewhere. \

If the sexual mores of the West are unpalatable to Muslim expatriots, then by all means I invite them to move to whatever country in which they would be more comfortable. I respect that certain customs, such as women being educated and free to take lovers at their own will, might seem immoral to certain people, and I would never force them to expose themselves to that. There are cultures that conform to their conservative views, and I think they should go to one before they are corrupted. But attacking the culture that they have attempted to join is remarkably rude.
