I was most struck by Tsing Loh's line "...in this cluttered forest of my 40s..."

This isn't about gender or marriage or feminism. Its about aging and death. Its about reaching the mountaintop of your life and confronting the coming long decline into the abyss. I'm reminded of the lines from Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
