Feminists FOR David Letterman?
by Gatewood
+1/-1 Reply
I find it fascinating that after David Letterman's attack on the females of the Governor of Alaska's family that not only did Slate's so-called feminists not utter a word of protest but neither did the National Organization of Women. Now why is that? Well . . . Sarah Palin is a conservative and so the woman and her daughters deserve whatever hatred and abuse gets directed their way.

For anyone sleeping on the moon, last week on a Monday I believe David Letterman delivered some disgusting jokes and ‘observations’ regarding the Palin family females. Bear in mind that 18 year old Bristol Palin DID NOT attend the sporting event that Letterman referenced. Sarah’s 14 year old daughter, Willow, attended with her mom and dad. Letterman KNEW this and so his ‘joke’ was about a fourteen year old girl. All in all Letterman, on national television, managed to call her a slut who would screw a sports figure. He also abused Governor Palin, but the real harm he did was to that fourteen year old girl.

So . . . where are the Slate feminists and N.O.W. leadership on this issue? Obviously if you are not a liberal woman then they are in agreement with David Letterman that you SHOULD be a target of vile sexual jokes . . . even if the female in question is just fourteen years old.

Read up buddy. Here's an excerpt:

In this week’s David Letterman vs. Sarah Palin dust-up, the typically left-of-center National Organization for Women sided 100 percent with Palin, a pro-life, conservative, lipstick Republican.

I was thrilled.

That’s what NOW should do: stick up for women and women’s issues, politics aside. But it’s something NOW, until now, has been loath to do.

Yet NOW this week also defended Republican women featured in a nasty Playboy piece about the top 10 GOP women to sleep with (though that’s not how the writer phrased it). They included columnist Michelle Malkin, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly, talk radio’s Laura Ingraham and - giving hope to all us women of a certain age - Peggy Noonan, practically a senior citizen and Ronald Reagan’s brilliant speechwriter.

I didn't see the joke, and missed most of the news stories about it because, frankly, I don't care. The whole controversy just confirms my belief that our automobile companies may be going bankrupt, but America is still #1 in manufacturing controversy. Why do you say he KNEW it was "Willow" at the game? Who, outside of Governor Palin's creepy personality cult, knows who the hell Willow is? For most Americans, Palin's children are Bristol, Bundle of Retard, and all the others.

Also - FYI, the Playboy piece was the one that listed the 10 GOP women he wanted to hate-fuck.

While the XX women didn't comment on Palin, they did quite a bit of blogging about that article which btw, singled out Republican women:

To sum it up: Relax!

Letterman has been taking

pot shots at the Palin family for months. He and his staff HAD to be aware of which members of the Palin family were where in order for the joke to make sense. Am I going too fast for you here?

For someone admitting ignorance it is curious that you would have an opinion on the subject.

I discounted their 'statement'

since had it been the conservative comedian Denis Miller uttering a similar set of 'jokes' about Michelle Obama and HER daughters they would have issued a non-stop serious of outraged replies calling for the comedian's balls on a platter.

So again, where ARE the feminists on this issue?

Why are you speculating how feminists would react if Denis Miller uttered these jokes? That hasn't happened, so what's your point? Why don't you check out the link to see how feminists reacted to Letterman?

Why is this upsetting you when your original post was wrong in the first place?

You know what Gatewood - I have to concede that you're right on the XX Factor feminist writers. They're too busy doing book and movie reviews to comment on this.

But don't worry, as you say when Denis Miller makes sexual jokes on Obama's kids, XX Factor will nail his balls to the table. Keep your fingers crossed. I know mine are. /sarcasm

Now you're lying. Show me one instance in which Letterman mentioned any Palin beside Sarah or Bristol.

Why is it that posts that start with, "I find it fascinating..." seldom are? Instead, they are all conservative rants attacking a straw man of hypocrisy.

BTW Letterman made a classy apology the other night, and pointed out that he thought the daughter in question was the older one, but that even so it was a tasteless and uncalled-for joke.

Meanwhile, NOW leadership was a few steps ahead of you. You really should check facts before posting, if you want to avoid looking like an ass.

Meanwhile, I find it fascinating that people are so fascinated by innuendo and speculation.

does nappy headed hoe ring any bells? and if it does, is the consequence for that joke the same as davys? should it be? and if not , why? any takers?

didnt think so, hypocrits rarely admit what they are...

Well, he does like to mention snow-machine Todd.
N.O.W issued one or two

lukewarm responses -- NOT AT ALL what they would have done had conservative comedian Denis Miller 'joked' about Michelle Obama and her daughters in the same way. They would have gone ape crazy insane had he done that.

As for Letterman issued a classy apology ONLY half a week after issuing a MOCKING APOLOGY wherein he AGAIN said the same jokes. His latest apology occurred only because CBS was in danger of having their sponsors withdraw. Something that may happen to them anyway.

Now I perfectly understand that liberals are in a contest to see if they can be greater hypocrites than many conservatives managed to be during the previous eight years. I think you people are winning that particular contest . . . and I find that fascinating.
