Re: He coulda wagged his finger at us...

and told us he'd never had relations with that minister and that anybody who said he did was part of a grand conspiracy to undermine him...but he didn't.

Re: Obama.

Woolley..

I too was moved and impressed with the clear, steady articulation of ideas, facts, honesty and courage of Obama's speech. Real intelligence will always frighten people who coast along on what they are 'supposed to think, taught to react, and are invited to see and think above their own level ..of either emotional or intellectual cognizance. Obama is the first natural statesman I've heard in America for decades. I posted the transcript of his speech so that it can speak for itself and not get lost in fragmentized spin as has and will happen..If anyone here who hasn't heard it cares to, I've top posted it.

Thank you for your post and words here. You have praised honor where honor is due.

You want me to start ragging on Clinton just to be fair to Ubama? I'll be happy to. I don't like her any more than I like him.

Jack

is THAT what is behind all this amazing, incredulous Kool-Aid swilling? You people are amazing; it frightens me that people this naive and willing to be hornswoggled actually have The Vote. Willing suspension of disbelief is one thing, Lono, and works great in the theatre but my god, man, this is REAL LIFE. You didn't even see the evasiveness, did you? He ducked the real issue & zoomed right past it -- to try, once again, to claim the (imaginary) high road. One can only shake one's head in wonder. This post is addressed to every single person on this thread who is posting in agreement with Woolley. I haven't seen this kind of frightening, non-critical, adulatory SWOONING since ... well, ever? This is frightening and if it keeps up, McCain will not just win in a creaker but will sweep to a massive landslide victory. "Wide-eyed kids" don't have the vote, Lono and there is a reason for that.
Now he admits he did hear such language;
by Lunesta

& thus, he excuses it: "It's part of the culture of the Black community." Oh, I see. But isn't the President of the United States supposed to be the President of ALL of us? Thus, I have to agree with you; this makes it far, FAR worse. HE HEARD his Minister express "some controversial thoughts." (paraphrase)

Do you believe the Kool-aid swilling Kultists on this thread, though? It frightens me that they each have one vote; people with such willingness to put their own critical intelligence on hold, frankly, would do us all a favor by abstaining. This is frightening stuff, Jack. Frightening.

Obama wouldn't know Reality if ...

it slapped him in his lying, evasive face. Apparently, some of our more BO-intoxicated posters would not, either. I am stunned & shocked into silence by their uncritical stupidity, and so, good night.
I really don't understand
by biteoftheweek

Your distaste for Obama.

I don't love the actions of all of his supporters, but I can't blame him for that.

The first time I heard about him was probably about 1997, when a friend from Illinois had heard him speak and wrote to me saying, "Watch this guy, he is going places."

My son got to meet him in 2004, and came back a huge admirer.

I happen to understand that. I feel that way about Hillary. I have wanted her to be President for nearly 2 decades.

Thanks for posting your thoughts Woolley!

His speech was so incredible and eloquently stated. He said important things that have needed to be said regardless of what went down with his pastor. He is the most refreshing politician I can recall in a long time. He is smart and in earnest. I believe he would be a great president.
