Please. No one who is using drugs, whether it is heroin , alcohol, pot, or even tobacco or coffee, has any interest in hearing how bad it is for you. If reason could reach them they would never start using in the first place.

Frankly I don't think anti-drug messages have any effect on anyone who's already taking drugs. Neither subtlety nor and scare tactics are going to work: users are a) stupid to begin with, b) brain-fogged by the drugs, c) smart but too arrogant to think it will affect them, or d) so screwed up that drugs feel better than reality.

You might reach parents, if they're not getting high themselves; you might reach younger kids who haven't started using yet. Doubtful, but possible.

Has anyone ever done the numbers of the effectiveness of any of these PSAs? How would you measure their effectiveness?
