Re: There are government employees...
by vincent1963
Damn! Now I feel really old, cuz I was thinking that only inarticulate kids use the "not" at the end of a sentence.
Ah yes,

I am a wingnut. You've got me nailed, haven't you? The point that Noah wrote a wrong-headed piece that doesn't make the point he believes it does is apparently lost on you. You'd rather go around calling someone you don't know a 'wing nut'.
Noah (and you)

are apparently so focused on the supposed 'irony' of a government employee saving someone's life that they miss the larger irony that there are no one BUT government employees in Washington. You could just as easily blame the government had the guy died (as many do). Noah's (idiotic) point is exactly that someone protesting against an expansion of the government has no right to any government services at all (even if that is all there is avialble in the company town of DC).

It is sadly typical of many on both sides of the political divide who stoop to all nature of illogic to score some cheap points.

At least you don't resort to name calling...

But I am sure I understood what Noah was trying to say. I just wasn't very impressed by it, since there was a larger irony staring him in the face. Noah is, for whatever reason, deeply committed to health care reform and the public option, so I think he sometimes presses the point rather mindlessly.

He's an old friend of a troll. He's kind of predictable but doesn't get harsh or nasty like the true believers.

OH, I get it NOW! So for instance if I benefit from taxes in some way, then I have NO right to protest any taxes that might be proposed? That would be deep irony and I'd be an idiot? Thanks for pointing that out.... not.

No one said it was deep irony, and no one called anyone an idiot. Bur you would have to be pretty partisan or dense not to get *any* irony out of it at, no .....?

Sure, I see what you're talking about, but if he keeled over in a fee-for-service hospital do you REALLY think the doctors would just step over him and go on their way without treating them? No, of course not.

It probably is partisan though, for example, I think it's ironic that the press is constantly harping on the dangers of tobacco but doesn't call for Obama, the leader of our country, to quit smoking and set a good example.

I've seen the press ride Obama's ass on his smoking, but let's be honest, there are a few other issues in the air right now that outweigh Obama's smoking habit.

Personally, I think the whole issue of his smoking is bullshit, it has zero to do with his ability to govern.

As for the irony, I agree it was light. But it was clear. Not as ironic as haters of public health care crying for government to keep their hands off their Medicare, heh, but it's damn hard to top that one :D
