Exactly right, I think: No self-worth or actual quality -->
by tartuffe

desperation for external validation --> dependence on external valuation symbols/metrics --> artificial manipulation of same to extent possible

You put it in the proverbial nutshell, Tarty.

Small wonder Lyin' Laurie, for instance, who in one sense, and by her own bold claims, is e'er the very epitome of brashly unapologetic, anti-social independence from and indifference to the feedback and opinions of others, is the biggest concrete status-checker of all, the most reliable thumbrater, the most frequent bragger or praiser concerning checkmarks and thread-counts, the most shameless bootlicker of the Editor, and the poster most wont under pressure to respond to critics with Lists of particular posters she considers "objective" proof of her worth and the critic's objective mis-take ("I enjoy topical exchanges with good posters like X, Y, and Z....").

It never occurs---never matters---to her or her fellow ICP list-makers that these List Participants change almost daily, and these days consist of whomsoever will pity them with an actual reply. They used to Appreciate your Fairness, poor Tarty! The Toad will go so far as to ask obvious questions the answer to which she knew the answer before, just to "bond", and generate List Mates (and lately, reply counts for BOTF!), knowing that certain unsuspecting and pedantic posters, usually men, are usually quite willing to be authoritative and chivalric in response to her pretextual queries, viz., "Yes, it's my pleasure. The capital of California is Sacramento, not Los Angeles".

Tag-clicking.

"All Toad, all the time." That one made me laugh out loud.

The Broncos aren't undefeated any more.

:-(

OT~ Please do check out my post above, which is quite well written and displays the sort of wit that drives them absolutely crazy OVER THERE my old good friend and always valued poster OVER HERE Just look at how many views I've given it!

Their bored (I meant to type it like that instead of "board" because THEY are so bored OVER THERE.) Really and truly a shame that former valued friends and longtime posters like x,y, and z have decided to join The Clicque (tm) of Organized Institutional Ostracization with the likes of them. Have you looked at the front page OVER THERE?

PS~The only excitement in Geezerstan comes from replies like mine and my dear friend who is so brave to stand up to THEM. Such a shame, honestly and truly, that THEY feel like there has to be an us vs them competition too, imho, and how sad that the FEMALE posters who were such strong feminists now feel like they have to follow those MALE posters to that hidey-hole of St. Ink. Burrow.

Please stop stalking me MR. It's so sad that you feel like you need to do that.

Oh and, sorry to hear about your mother Schad. That is entirely sincere too. Truly.

Phillies vs. Yankees---only one can win it all.

Baseball is a game and I love to watch it! Those players that play are really cool.

Best to you, dear friend. Have a great rest of the hour!

is this a cut&paste? lol.

I've had to start making innocuous replies to your posts to preempt their disappearance.

I'm being a bad boy, I know.

But if I don't so parodies now and then I get rusty.

the post following that Top Post, dear Mikhail the False Accuser, was all mine and gave complete context to BOTF readers reading the Top Post. So simple. You're a liar to not include the second post or reference it. You're also just jealous -- that top post now has over 370 views and what's your usual tally? 6 views? 2 replies? Something like that.

You're a teeny, tiny little whining excuse for a "man" and you're afraid of strong women. Tut-tut, Mikey. "Steals a post"?? Are you drinking, doing drugs or otherwise addled? It's a fair copy & paste, reproduced in full and with all credit (snort!) to you. What's stealing' about that?

Seek (professional) help, Mikey-boy. Btw, what's new in your ... 'workplace?'

Re: Nope. Didn't know how. Thx.

Oh, there's a lot of stuff you don't pay attention to, BD. Starting with the truth. But you know, hey, anything to grab a tiny little snippet of attention from the Nasty Boys Club, right? Anything, apparently. Tagging this one just for you.
