Dave Letterman is and has always been an asshole. He is just like all the other night hosts of talk shows, they are all liberals and most of their guests are also. There is no excuse for his bad mouthing Sarah Palin and her kids, there was enough of that in the Presidential election that went on. The press just forgot all about Hussein's involvement with the bad elements he associated with and not once picked on Michelle or his kids but Palin and kids were fair game for the liberal press... Talk about double standards, if Hussein bent over the news people would be picking crap out of their noses because of the way they were brown nosing him....

Letterman's show stinks, Leno's did also, and Conan, this guy is absolutely the worst of them all besides Letterman, not funny at all.....

I wonder if Letterman would do a segment about Harry and his mother? You know the woman that Letterman "knocked up". He brings pictures of Harry on his show and continually uses "little Harry" in his show so he's fair game, right? Oh, yeah could Letterman's now wife not qualify for "slut" status since he did not marry her for so many years? Were they "shacking up"? If so, why can't Letterman use his own life as fodder for his monologues and top ten lists? Guess he doesn't think its funny when you cause harm to somebody that matters to you. It's only funny when you hurt people you don't like or don't care about.

Why is it that the perception of Sara Palin is "slutty"? Oh thats right because Nancy Pelosi is a Hag who dresses the same way. So what you people are saying is she needs to wear carharts and look like someone who just crawled out of Bed- au natural to fit your mold. She dresses like a professional woman, like the many I see everyday and that is slutty? Oh I guess for a blue collar factory worker pushing a broom her appearance is slutty. Letterman has made many crude jokes about his own alleged sexual practices. He joked about his own stalker years back. Jokes about finally getting married, how it's ridiculous he had a son so old, his son calling him "grandpa" etc.

As to Palin, he made a joke about her buying makeup for a slutty look, not that she is a slut herself. As many said, some more succinctly than I did (references to her wink), joking about how a governor and v.p. candidate takes advantage of her sexuality for political gain is fair game. And, the show makes plenty of off color jokes about Dems too, including Spitzer and Clinton.

The double standard is in your own mind.

Except that Letterman has made jokes about Harry being a bastard and he has had numerous celebrities including Julia Roberts come on his show and make numerous jokes about his wife and her lack of virtue when they were still shacking up. For awhile there, it was a standard routine to make fun of Letterman's relationships on Letterman's show.

No, she doesn't. She also isn't known for winking at people. Palin and her handlers use (exploit, your call) a certain sexual image, and when the look is joked about -- as is hypocrites' wont -- they get all upset & b.s.

You are right; there is a difference between calling someone a slut and saying they look like one. Let's keep in mind that David Letterman is a comedian, and he was only doing what he does all the other nights on his program - telling a JOKE. Perhaps the joke was in poor taste, but it is hardly something to get riled up over.

And as for Palin's comments about Obama's children, I do not recall either of them playing to the media the way Palin and her child(ren) have. In fact, I don't recall reading a single story about any of the candidates or their families that even closely compared to the questionable behaviors of the Palin family. It is my opinion that Sarah Palin and her daughter seem to enjoy their sexuality when the cameras are on them; and, if you are going to flaunt it, you have to expect the remarks that will inevitably follow.

Someone earlier made a comment about Obama's "slutty" mother . . . did we ever even get a chance to meet the woman? No, we did not. We have no idea who or what she was. Calling her "slutty" is at best a stretch.

Palin complained that the Obama children are cosseted while hers are trashed and violated is true. Can you imagine what the far left would have to say if someone made a similar joke about Mrs. Obama being slutty. I am pretty open minded and I like David Letterman, but I think he crossed the line with the joke.
