Tsuku, if the Constitution were to be suspended and represenative government was to be done away with, who would you like to see leading the country?
I don't really hate George Bush, but neither would I care to see him as leader for life. Despite his negative image and his pandering to big business, Bush does have some positives. But far too many negatives outweigh the positives
To say nothing of Hillary, Obama, or McCain.
I agree that democracy in this nation has turned into a travesty. WE, THE PEOPLE, have reduced to sheep to be sheared and eventually led to the slaughter.
Having been raised in a military family, the thought of a military takeover of the nation is not altogether repellant to me, but it would seem that the military leadership in this nation has been reduced to polityical lackeys and stooges.
Could such people efffectively govern the nation? There are no Pattons or MacArthurs within their ranks any more. These two individuals could effectively govern with fairness and compassion, as both demonstrated at war's end in Europe at the end of that unfortunate conflict. Patton embarassed Eisenhower by having Bavaria's civil systems and services back on line well before any other military district in Europe. And if memory serves, he died in December of 1945, which makes his accomplishments as as a peacekeeper all the more remarkable.
As for what MacArthur did in Japan, nothing short of a miracle. One of the greatest feats of social engineering in the history of man.
But where are such individuals when you need them? I see no such governing potential among the miltary's leadership ranks any longer.
As far as a civil takeover, virtually impossible without the support of the military, and such an action would cause rebellion with the ranks of the military itself.
Hillary or Obama with a Democratically controlled Congress would essentially bring about a defacto dictatorship. We would not be one in name, but we would never the less become one.
McCain too weak and inefectual to provide the leadership he once could have. Age definitely a factor here. He is not the man he once was.
The only other option I see is rebellion. Too many sheep though to pull one off.
That being said though, if you wish to foment one, count me in...
Change is needed, but I see no American Caesers waiting in the wings to bring that change about. That is unless Brother George has more on the ball upstairs than I gave him credit for. But he's gonna have to give up his fundamentalist views and take a little initiative with big business to keep thir greedy corporate asses in line if he wants my support.
The boy did have some potential. A pity he never lived up to it though.
I seriously like your views on separation. Seceesion is a popular theme among Southern boys anyway. Especially if we get the Democrats back in total control of the government. Something's gonna have to give under such a scenario.
I totally agree with you on one point. As my father used to be fond of saying, "We're all up Shit Creek without a paddle."
Which really should make Unebug happy, as she has plenty of fertilizer for her roses.
