Gotta love the Lousiana horse. I figured Recapturetheglory would collapse if he didn't get the lead, but he hung in there. A speed-favoring track, though.

Sure, I've seen horses break down. During the race. But to gut it out like that and then break down after she crossed the line, that was incredible. All the commentators, before getting official medical word, had assumed she had heart trouble from running so damned hard.

Eight Belles certainly did not have a faint heart.

Big heart is an understatement. I saw no sign, even in the replay until
the race was finished. Offering the history and weakness in those blood lines was a great and tragic piece of timing.
