Re: Perino calls on BotF alum Brewmaster
by LaurieAnnM

That's wonderful, tartuffe. Good for Eric.

How did you find that tidbit of news?

btw, Eric posted as Brewmeister on the Fray, not Brewmaster.

But no matter..nice you let all know he is doing well.

You remind me of the link I intended, but forgot,
by tartuffe

to BTCNews (answering your question re: how I found the tidbit).

I thought I remembered Brewmaster, but could obviously be wrong. In fact, I fraysearched both intending to link his profile, but got no hits on either (though I'd've sworn he had posted here at least once or twice since old fray days).

Oh thanks for that tartuffe! Appreciate it. It's great to know he's writing and got right inside the WH Press Corp room. very cool!

Here's a link referencing Brewmeister that was posted by o_hellenbach.

Oops looks like we're both right, sort of.(you are more right than I here)

He did post as Brewmaster but many referred to him as Brewmeister as o_hellenbach did in my link.

Sorry, you did have it correct.

;-)

Ah, it's "TheBrewmaster".

Well if the US did pull out of Iraq quickly or too soon, then Dana is right that real chaos would pursue. Someone would be overtaking oil fields and outlets would they not? Sunni-led factions probably more likely than Shiite in Iraq. No doubt whichever Sunni circle has the upper hand they are going to be militant and radical. So is it unlikely they could work closely with al Qaeda at some point where those killers could benefit?

I, too, have a lot of problems with McCain (a lot of problems) but until he gets into the White House, if he screwed up which terrorist is with which radical government or radical religion I guess I can’t totally blame him. You have to make a concerted effort to keep it all sorted out in your mind on a regular basis. I couldn’t tell you without researching which religion (Sunni, Shiite, other) many of these factions or movements follow: Hamas, Al Fatah, Hezbollah, Taliban, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, etc. However, once in office, no excuses for any president not being seriously in the know. Now Bush should know better, but I really have my doubts about him. Also, the fact McCain has said it on four different occasions, well, I guess that’s a bit disconcerting. How did he ever win this nomination, I am miffed?

PS – I am happy for you and the editors here to honor BTC in some way (he or she?). Personally, in my dealings with her I found her to be far left to a fault where admitting errors or half truths was not in her willingness. I lost interest, but I admit I am not an expert on her work.

A logical and thoughtful question, what a surprise!

Perino is aways patronizing and, "unhelpful". She was on good old Larry King several weeks ago, she complained about Helen Thomas getting more than her fair share of question time.

I've always thought that the media could have revealed the Bush regime for the fascists they are and saved untold thousands of lives in the process, if they had called them to account instead of colluding with the Republicans.
How many times has the press sat like potted plants, always at a level below Bush so that he can look down upon them I suppose, and never ask even a mildly challenging question and tolerate his long, loony lectures. And never even criticize him afterwards!
One of my favourites was when Bush theatrically strutted out to annoucnce the criminal invasion of Iraq, while the assembled press looked on in meek silence.
Dana is DEAD WRONG,not Right
by Bruce

How do you reconcile the fact that there is NO SCENARIO where a clandestine terrorist organization like Al Qaeda siezes control of Iraqi oil??

Methinks you are stumbling all over the place to excuse Bush's clear misrepresentations of the reality on the ground in Iraq.

Once we depart, there will be a fight over oil resources, absent further progress in sharing oil revenues, amongst the Iraqis; but there is NO WAY that Al Qaeda gets control of that oil.

Perino was clearly in error in her claim that Bush had not made the statement making that ridiculous claim.

Al Qaeda was on the run because the Sunni leaders turned against them(knowing who and where they are),not because of our military efforts.

Ok, I hear you.

Methinks you are stumbling all over the place to excuse Bush's clear misrepresentations of the reality on the ground in Iraq.

No, not at all. I don’t recall ever being motivated by trying to defend Bush, I was just trying to be completely objective about this. See next comment.

Al Qaeda was on the run because the Sunni leaders turned against them(knowing who and where they are),not because of our military efforts.

You’re right and I kind of forgot about that (i.e. that the Sunnis in Iraq have turned against al Qaeda) and that would change things quite a bit. If that holds true, then I agree with your opinion.

But you have to admit, one has to stay on top of a lot of confusing developments in order to speak intelligently on the matter.

but that isn't an excuse for Bush

he just Lied... again.

for you and me, alright, then.

Dana Perino -- local girl,
by Lunesta
from a "good" Republican family in the suburbs. Attended my alma mater, to our everlasting shame. She's a typical spoiled brat Gen. X-Yer, who is going to have it all, by God! She's also a typical "last year of a failed Administration" p.r. flack, and one of the worst yet. She gets cut a lot of slack because of her looks, is the word around campus & the local media "corpse." :-)

I saw that on Thinkprogress. It was great. That wasn't the only whopper Bush told. He also said: "If we were to allow our enemies to prevail in Iraq, the violence that is now declining would accelerate".

March is on track to be the 4th straight month of increases in the number of Iraqi's killed. It is not just an increase, the number killed have doubled in the last 4 months. A lot of Americans believe that the violence is now declining because that is the only message being presented. Too bad it is just another lie in the long series of lies. By now I would think that Americans would just assume it was a lie if Bush said it because, once again, that is the case. My source for Iraqi's killed is icasualities.org.
