Old Testament
by edwinG

I read criticism of the old testament and yes, it made sense from my position here in Australia in the year 2008. If I consider what the world was like before Noah, where men were completely lawless, then the old testament is probably tame. Then there were no rules at all. Think for a moment. Whatever you could think to do and had the strength to do, you did ,at whatever time you wanted. Through Moses God gave the law. This law capped the payback. An example of an eye for an eye. This is a law of limitations. Prior to giving this people extracted what ever punishment they had the strength and energy to dish out. And if they were in a bad mood, throw your weight around any how. Only Israel followed these laws. The surrounding nations didn't.

Now I ask, how humble is the person who thinks his sense of justice came from within himself. If a person reads the bible surely that person should be down on his knees thanking God for the love and kindness that is within him this day, because if it were not for God, that critical person would be as people were before God intervened.

The article I read here is full of self righteousness and sickening. The writer should be very scared if, by the words from his heart, someone is led astray.
