Thank you, Daniel Engber, for analyzing the stereotypes/prejudices presented in Pixar's Wall-E. The use of fat bodies as a symbol of laziness and over consumption is vile. I have read some of the previous posts attempting to justify Pixar's use of stereotypes and it smacks of individuals who are either unaware of their own prejudice or are trying to justify it.

What ELSE would you use as a symbol for laziness and over-consumption? Stereotypes are inevitable. They are also a staple of comedy. If it bothers you, either lose some weight, or, like the rest of the world, learn to deal with occasionally being made fun of. It doesn't matter if you're Black, White, American, Chinese, Atheist, Baptist, Southern, Northern, city-slick, a country bumpkin, rich, poor... Welcome to the real world. Please try to reserve scorn for the mistreatment of groups that cannot control their condition.

Did the movie theaters halt their sales of popcorn and candy before the show? I think not.
