MaryAnn
by CaliforniaDreamin

Dear Sweet MaryAnn,

You are one of the kindest, and I think, smartest, people around.

Alas when I thought of you and clicked your name (not out of lust, mind you, but rather more out of... what is that word for pure, sinless love... that one, I saw only references to POEMS almost as far as the finger could scroll.

And so I say this to you, dear sweet MaryAnn, expand your horizons. There are more things under heaven and earth than are dreamt of in POEMS.

Dear CaliforniaDreamin'

Thanks for your concern, but not to worry -- I do, indeed, post on other frays -- Culturebox, Art, Architecture, occasionally BOTF. But I rarely get involved in Slate political discussions because noone is really interested listening to other people's opinions.

As for there being other things under heaven and earth besides poetry, you are exactly right. When I am away from Slate, I am involved in all sorts of other actitivities -- but I usually choose not to talk about them online (because I'd rather do things than post about them).

…I doubt very much if there is anything under heaven and earth that has not been dreamt of in poems. What an odd thing to say. Was that meant facetiously? I dare you to list one thing that has not been dreamt of in poetry. And explain dreamt. What the hell kind of a word is that? And so I say to you, dear sweet CaliforniaDreamin,' expand your argument.
