I have to seriously question the author's ability to comprehend the Long Tail. The Long Tail is simply a logarithmic curve.
It's high at the beginning and low at the end. The Long Tail says, yes, there will always be blockbusters. But there is now room for more sleepers. It's not that they become blockbusters, but in aggregrate, the low end can produce significant revenue.
Please read the Long Tail sometime, and perhaps ask a math nerd at your high school to explain it to you.
