Wrong example

I agree with your denunciation of the links between obesity and the environment to some extent. But you used the wrong example.

In Wall-E, the earth is covered in trash because of excessive consumption. The movie does not blame obesity for the excessive consumption. Rather, it blames the excessive consumption and an unhealthy addiction to technology for decreased muscle mass (and the resulting obesity), reduced interpersonal interactions, etc. If you noticed the scene where the portraits of the ship's captains are shown, they don't go from obese to more obese, but start with a normal looking dude and end with a muscle-devoid "thing."

Please (and this goes out to your colleagues as well), stop taking what's popular today and contorting it to fit the issue you want to present. It is insulting to your reader that you think that you need to grab his or her attention with a popular subject/title just to highlight the issue you care about.

Ciao.
