The Eugene Levy Rule
by O Shak

A couple of years ago a friend of mine and I came up with what we called "The Eugene Levy Rule" as a way to determine which catch-phrases should never be said by anyone...ever. Its simple. If you can see Eugene Levy (as Father in American Pie, but he's a similar character in other films), saying something in one of his "I can be hip too" moments, then we should probably stop saying it. I offer "mad props" as an example of this. More obvious examples include "Off the hook" and "Gettin Jiggy with it".

How can something be "over" if I've never even heard of it? (she asked plaintively)

mad props??? I'm picturing theatrical accoutrements gone berserk ...
