Fiber???
by run75441

We have seemed to move away from eating whole grain types of foods to eating meat, cheeses, and white breads. All of them contain very little fiber, that necessary little ingredient that makes us consistently consistent in the mornings.

To compensate, some people have started doing the evening powdered fiber (metamucil) ritual which tastes orangy a lot like Tang (1960s space drink). While 2 to 3 teaspoons of the Tang-tasting powdered fiber in a large glass of water will not cause lift-off into outer space, it definitely will move you closer to the bathroom in the morning on a "regular" basis. Powdered fiber will fight constipation and also the opposite of constipation.

Unlike fellow poster "Knute (see below post)," I am kind of lazy preferring to buy my thimbles of yogurt, and in particular "Activia." Yogurt was always about putting the good bacteria into your tummy to assist in the digestive process. With the minute chunks of fruit and the aroma of fruit flavoring, it really is not that bad tasting. What I have also found is the "Light" version has 3 grams of "fiber" in it as opposed to the fattier version. This is 12% of the daily requirement for fiber. If perchance the good bacteria suddenly dies, rest assured the fiber will help elict a morning ritual.

If being a regular person is indeed a problem, one can always do the whole grain trick. If you shop your breads, you will find some of the Pepperidge Farms breads (Oatmeal, Double Fiber, Rye) have 3-6 grams of fiber per slice as opposited to the <1 gram found in the white garbage. One toasted slice of this bread, plus Promise and you can keep the calorie count (155) within the same range as Yogurt (110) and fill that cute, flat, tummy a tad more and quash the hunger.

Just a few thoughts on being a regular guy or girl.

So on the topic of regular guys ...

... I'm over at Moneybox, when I get into it with some numbskull, and after a few increasingly bad exchanges I point out that he's out of his depth on the Moneybox board, and should really try Ballotbox because I thought his temperament fit BB better.

After his reply calling me an arrogant Dick and an idiot, I check his MBTU, and lo and behold, guess where he hangs out most of the time?

That's right, BB.

So I look up and down the MB page and not a single nic I recognize?

So tell me this, is a page full of idiots fighting over the Articles, a positive development?

I'm sticking to my initial assessment; the editors were getting heat for hosting a bunch of posters who were more knowledgeable and honest about our economy than the Fray writers and that got in the way of their dis-info job, so we had to go.

If BL ever starts getting attention, I'm sure you'll be given the bum's rush over there too.

Keep up the good work.

The guys are still around and they do post here when there is something that interests them . . . like oil, energy, etc. All of this is but one editor away. Another Kevin or TJ could appear and much of this could disappear. Hang in there and don't let the place and a few odd posters get to you.

This may interest you, read the thread: <link> Spending, Consumption, and The Middle Class

For the record, I did ask to no longer be checkmarked. If you look at the number of views I consistently get; those are my checkmarks.
