this is by far a not so glamorous job. i am dead beat tired today. i like to believe that the child care facility that i work at is not the worst. it is bad though. nobody wants to work there. it is very hard. parents are impossible and sometimes the people you work with are worse.
we have 2 staff members out for the next week and a half or so. that leaves us with 3 staff members. today, like most days, we had to combine rooms. are rooms are as follows:
infant: new born -1 year
toddler: 1 year to 2 1/2
pre school: 2 1/2 to 5
and school age: 5 to11
at the moment there is no babies. so we have pre school, toddlers and school age. the pre school teacher was gone so that room was divided up. today i had 14 kids aging from 11 months to 4 years old. on top of that, there is 2 of us at the end of the day. we have been doing all the cleaning. it is hard and your body. the school age room had 11 kids today. it was, to say the least, a long day.
it is hard to want to get back up to 14 screaming children, unhelpful co workers, and 40 diapers a day. on top of which, we are not even allowed to put any child for any reason in time out. and discipline is not allowed.
it is so hard to explain to a parent that their child was bit by another child. or that your child was running around and he/she tripped and hit there head, and the only remark you ever get back is " oh i see" and come to find the next day they complain to your boss.
this job is so hard. people are ungrateful and unpleasant. like we are an inconvenience in some way. well this is my vent. thank you.
