I could not agree more with this entire article. The clothes today for tweens are completely unacceptable for the tween in our home and we do not buy them. That really is the key to issues like this. If more parents refused to buy the garbage clothes that would in turn translate to massive losses in revenue. These stores would get the message fast when it hits them in the pocket book. The truth is that we are talking about "sweet" little girls here and parents are no longer going to take it, or buy it, if those clothes make thier little girls look like tramps. That trend has already spread like wild fire here in Texas with more parents closing their pocketbook to all trash clothes and looking for suitable clothing. We have clothes sharing programs here so other kids coming into this age will have decent choices and parents have less hassle finding sweet clothes for their tweens.

Yes we have had many trashy styles in the past but they have been for 18 year olds and up. Not 10 and 11 year old little girls and there is a difference. The bottom line in our home is "we" the parents buy the clothes. Our money pays for this 13 billion dollar industry and for styles like this we refuse to help it grow even more. I check out the outlets and we also buy second hand. We get the simple sweet styles and save a lot of money too. There are better choices and more then ever parents need to wake up and start making them for their little girls.

My daughter is like this authors daughter. She too wants to be a "girl". She is not intrested in having any boy see her as a sex object at this age much less attract a perverted older man. That starts at home too. When parents instill the morals and values that tells these young girls what really matters in life (Brains over looks and they only get ONE childhood) their child has a good foundation for the rest of their lives.

If the rest of society does not want to see these young girls grow into women who put their entire life into selling themselves as a sexual image they had better get with the program too. Sexual looks fade. Brains last forever and no man takes a tramp home to meet his mother. Do parents want their little girls to be used or repected? The image they buy for their child to project in their clothing will render their child's results. Times may have changed but those realities remain written in stone for enternity.
