I loved the article! I was a daycare teacher for almost 4 years. Its the hardest job I've ever had to do. I started out with infants and worked my way up the age groups to 3-4 years. One of the best things about the job was the relationships I got to establish with the kids and their parents. Because of parent requests I had several of my children from the age of 6 weeks to 4 years old. I still consider them my babies. And I got very close to their parents and consider them some of my best friends. It has been wonderful to keep in touch with them even now when I am living in a different state. It is hard hard work and I chose to leave because I knew there were other jobs to I wanted to pursue. And its very difficult relating your work in a daycare to any other type of work as experience in the workforce. I think sometimes that people don't always realize how much goes into it, physically, mentally, and emotionally. You have to love those kids to be able to do it for long periods of time. And on top of all the things you're doing during the day there are still the same pressures you find in any other job... politics, pressure to preform, etc. I love my kids with all my heart (I even wanted one of my girls as my flower girl) and I am thankful they are in my life. But I know its a job that helped me grow and learn about myself as a person but its a job I will look back on with pride without repeating in my future.
