I think the article was well written, but a little late. The final 2seasons of the tv show, when Carrie went to Paris, she was a far more financially upscale gal, getting her $25,000 checks and knowing folks at Prada on a first name basis. Carrie, the girl who slipped on the model runway, was now leading others through the scary-happy world of drinking champagne while shopping and buying men $500 plain red shirts. When Carrie gets to Paris, she wears only high fashion, and though some of the outfits are a bit Carrie-costumish, they all scream CHA-CHING!!
I was not happy about the phrase love and labels, my sense is that King liked the sound of it so much he didn;t think about what it meant for our vulnerable Carrie to turn into a non-Housewife of Manhattan. What, talk of botox but nothing about plumper lips and face lifts?
However, while there were a number of flaws in the movie, it was, nevertheless, touching, enjoyable, fun and I want to see it again. Because King, Parker and the rest of the girls kept the core intact...the love and loyalty (how is that for 2 "L"'s?) of these four women.
